Can I change my characters original personality?
I’m in a drama camp this summer and our musical this year is TV themed and there’s Scooby Doo and Addams Family and I’m in Gilligan’s Island as the Professor. When I heard my role I knew what Gilligans Island was but I never actually watched it so I didn’t know who the professor was and I thought I could make him like a German accent and that kind of professor but then we watched the TV shows and I saw that my characters not like that at all and I’m kind of sad about that because I can’t really do anything with this character. He’s just like a regular guy straight man. So, is it wrong to make the professor my version? Or should I keep to the original character? Or is there anything else I could do differently with him?
I would do your version. Mix it up a little. No one’s gonna look down on you for being creative!
